Positive Reviews
positive:
Lasting impression.
The staff and management at Zephyr strive to provide a unique experience, and it was appreciated by many guests. The hip and funky interior is complemented by out-of-the ordinary amenities like outdoor firepits, and a family-friendly games room with ping-pong tables, pool and shuffleboard.
positive:
Excellent location.
While some guests preferred to be closer to the centre of San Francisco, those that did their research knew that they were in for a treat with the convenient location. Guests could walk directly from the hotel on a coastal path to the Golden Gate Bridge. They were equally impressed with the proximity of Alcatraz and Sausalito ferries, and the ability to stroll to many area attractions like Madame Tussauds wax museum or Aquarium of the Bay, not to mention the charming sea lions to be found at adjacent Pier 39.
positive:
Sparkling clean.
With a new renovation under their belt, it would be a shame if Zephyr was found to be dirty. Fortunately, this was not the case, with guests reporting top marks for housekeeping staff.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Not all views are created equal.
While Zephyr boasts panoramic views that include Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, some guests who wanted to save on accommodation were met with less than inspiring views of the parking lot or neighbouring building walls. If you want to splurge, you will be guaranteed an unforgettable view, but penny pinching guests were not as lucky.
negative:
Break the bank parking.
Guests discovered that parking in San Francisco can be a pain, for lack of space, and for sky-high prices. The good news is that there is plenty of parking near Zephyr, but the bad news is that you will have to pay a lot.
negative:
Staff not always on the ball.
For the most part, guests had pleasant interactions with hotel staff members. However, some visitors found front desk staff to be short and unfriendly at times.
