Positive Reviews
positive:
Great location right on the sand
Without a shadow of doubt it is the location, pretty much right on the sea sand, that guests most appreciate about the Polamar. They loved that they could just stroll through the ground floor restaurant, go down a few steps and be right on the beach. Also mentioned were the great views, both from the restaurant and the rooms.
positive:
Excellent value for money
While there were some issues regarding renovations, considering the location right by the sea, most guests who mentioned value thought they got a very good deal indeed considering the room-rate they paid.
positive:
Restaurant actually serves Spanish food
A couple of guests commented on this. They found it refreshing , and tasty, that, unlike many hotels on the Spanish coast, the restaurant at Polamar actually serves traditional Spanish cuisine, rather than British or “International” fare.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Room décor a bit dated
This was probably the most common complaint. The room décor is described as very dated by quite a few guests. It's not that they considered the rooms in poor repair, or uncomfortable, but rather that the decor was neither elegantly classical, or chic and modern. It was just outdated.
negative:
Reception staff unfriendly
Though an odd complaint of unfriendly reception staff is not unusual in any hotel's reviews, there seem to be a bit too many to ignore in this case. Quite a few guests mention that their check-in experience was less than welcoming.
negative:
Loud and intrusive music
Curiously, it seems the hotel plays music in all its public areas throughout the day. In many cases neither the volume, nor style of music, was to guest's tastes.
