Positive Reviews
positive:
Fantastic central location
This is undoubtedly guest's favourite feature of the Lido. They found the location convenient on many levels. Conveniently close to the railway station, so no taxis were required on arrival, and also close to shopping and attractions.
positive:
Surprisingly quiet
Several guests expressed their astonishment that a hotel in such a central location could be so peaceful and quiet at night. They generally credited its position in a side street, and very solid soundproof windows.
positive:
Good value…for Geneva
A number of guests commented that they found the hotel to be very good value, usually qualifying their statement by adding “for Geneva”, due to Switzerland's, and especially Geneva's, reputation as expensive destinations.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No in-room tea or coffee making facilities
Cultural misunderstandings struck again. Hotels in many countries do not have a history of putting tea and coffee making facilities in their hotel rooms. Perhaps Switzerland is one of them. But regardless of whether this is so, the Lido Hotel does not include these in its rooms, and has guests left high, dry and a bit thirsty when they discover they cannot make themselves a hot beverage.
negative:
Problems with the breakfast
Guests seemed to have two problems with the breakfast. Firstly, they said, it was not very good, consisting of a small variety of pretty basic staples. Secondly, the time it was all packed up was quite early. Late risers will miss it entirely, and have to find a café.
negative:
No real hotel facilities
Though guests realised they had booked into a budget hotel, some were still a little disappointed by how few public facilities there were. It was pretty much just the reception and breakfast room, with the rest of the space being taken up by rooms.
