Welcoming and friendly staff
Guests are liberal with their praise of the staff at Klaus K. They are described as friendly, welcoming and in no way pretentious, as is occasionally the case at design hotels.
With décor based on Finish National Legend, Kalevala, Hotel Klaus K provides quirky, but very elegant, accommodation in Helsinki’s first design hotel. There are standard rooms, sky lofts and art suites. The standard rooms feature luxury mattresses, fat screen TV’s, minibars and hairdryers. The skylofts are bigger and also have coffee maker and ipod docks, while the art suites are the unique creations of local artists. The hotel has several event spaces for any size event or meeting. There is a special Finnish breakfast available daily, while the Toscanini Restaurant brings the warmth of Tuscany to the heart of Helsinki with its extensive menu and wine list. The Livingroom is a cosy space to relax with a cappuccino or cocktail while getting stuck into that novel. Hotel Klaus K is right in the centre of town, so all the sights and amenities are nearby. The National Museum of Finland is 0.7 miles from the hotel.

Many guests comment that they loved being in the very centre of the city, saying that it was convenient to be able to walk to many of the attractions, and easily find public transport to more distant sights.
It seems some guests discovered a new favourite “national” breakfast, and it was the Finish breakfast. Or rather, the breakfast at Klaus K really impressed many guests. They described it as an extremely varied buffet, very tasty, and definitely more than enough to give them a good start to the day.
There are rooms of various sizes available, but guests who stayed in the smaller rooms commented that they really were a bit too small. It seems they could have accepted the small size at a budget hotel, but not at a luxury design hotel.
It seems that some rooms are exceptionally dark. While it isn't a general problem, and plenty of rooms do let in the natural light, several guests mentioned that their particular room was too dark for their liking. Certainly, when as far north as Helsinki guests want to let in all the natural light they can get.
Interestingly, this complaint came up a couple of times. A couple of guests travelling in the cooler months described their rooms as “cold”. It seems there is no way to adjust the temperature in the room, so it is possible that heating is distributed unevenly to the rooms.
