Hotel Ca' Alvise (Venice, Italy)

This of course is the star feature of Cá Alvise. It is situated on a small canal in the very heart of Venice. St Mark's Square, and other nearby attractions, are less than 10 minutes' walk away.

Guests were impressed with the classic and luxurious décor, and felt that they had been transported back to the Baroque period. In the same vain, the interior was also described as being like that of a museum - but a charming and quaint museum, rather than a stuffy one.

A very rare compliment for Venice B&B's indeed, but many guests were pleasantly surprised to find the size of their rooms bigger than they had expected, or perhaps feared.

Many guests complain that the Wi-Fi signal is not strong enough to reach all the rooms. They found that whether or not you got a signal depended on how close you were to reception. Techies will be happier in rooms on the lower floors.

More than just a couple of guests commented that their rooms were not clean on arrival, and that it did not make a particularly favourable first impression.

Though views were mixed, the balance definitely leaned toward breakfast being a bland and sparse affair. While many have come to expect breakfast food in Europe to be poor, many were mystified as to how their coffee, at a B&B in Italy, could also be poor.
