Antico Podere Propano is a smart but laid back boutique hotel and agriturismo in a typical, large, square Piedmontese farmhouse with an enclosed courtyard. The Propano estate was built by the Marquis of Saluzzo in the early 1500s. The hotel is on the edge of Saluzzo, an historic town with a wonderfully untouristy atmosphere. There are pleasant views across the fields to Monte Monviso, the source of the river Po which flows down into the fertile valley below. This is a very quiet and relaxing place. The rooms are spacious and simply decorated. Those on the top floor have original beams. All have air-conditioning, satellite TV and frigo bar. The majority of the rooms have Wi-Fi. There are rooms that can also sleep 3/4 people that are suitable for families. Breakfast is a delicious selection of local cheese, homemade jam and cakes. There is always a fresh fruit salad, local cold cuts and bread from the nearby bakery. In winter it's enjoyed in the breakfast room and in the summer months in the courtyard. There is no restaurant but there are many excellent places to eat out at in Saluzzo. This is a good place to stay if you are touring by bike and you can explore the fruit farms that surround the town.
