Positive Reviews
positive:
The swimming pool is a bonus.
It's not often you find a B&B with a swimming pool - and the Bendene's is enclosed in a walled garden, which makes it a tranquil spot for summertime dips. The weather may not be Mediterranean, but the atmosphere comes close.
positive:
Little touches to lift the spirits.
A mini kettle and a few sachets of instant coffee is the best you can normally expect in a British guesthouse, but here, the tea tray is replete with a cafetiere and freshly ground coffee. Fresh flowers also give the rooms a homely feel.
positive:
Tranquil location minutes from the centre.
Whether you have an early train to catch, or you just want to visit the city, central Exeter is just a short stroll away. Guests love having the best of both worlds - staying in a quiet neighbourhood, but with every convenience close by.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Initial customer service could be friendlier.
While many guests praise the friendliness of the majority of staff, there are numerous comments about the blunt attitude at the reception desk, with no warm welcome forthcoming. Just a little more service with a smile needed.
negative:
Some guests find parking an issue.
The Bendene has a couple of parking spaces onsite and there is a car park nearby with free night parking, but some guests have said that it fills up quickly. If you're coming by car, be prepared to hunt for a space.
negative:
Insufficient shared bathroom facilities.
If you don't opt for an ensuite room, then you may find that there aren't even any bathroom facilities on your floor. Guests say you may have to traipse up and down stairs to find one. Low water pressure can also be an issue.
