Positive Reviews
positive:
Great carvery
Guests are fairly complimentary about the entire menu at the Wyborn restaurant but seem particularly impressed by the carvery. It's a great place to be on a Sunday if you like a traditional roast. Expect it to be busy, though, as the carvery is open to the public as well as guests.
positive:
Professional and caring staff
The staff at the Best Western Calcot seem to have identified that fine line between being caring and intrusive. Guests report that they found the staff members were professional but genuinely interested in individual people and groups, without the service ever feeling overwhelming.
positive:
Decent value for money
One thing that consistently comes across among reviews of this property is that the hotel offers decent value for money. You could never mistake it for a luxury hotel, but it certainly gets the job done in offering comfortable and clean surroundings at a great price.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Minor issues in rooms
Although the rooms are typically found to offer a good standard of accommodation, guests do have some minor criticisms. There's nothing too serious to worry about, but you may notice a few maintenance issues have not been attended to and the decor is a little dated in parts.
negative:
Numerous events
From weddings to murder mystery weekends, this hotel seems to play host to a large number of events. If you're joining in, great. If not, you may find there's a little noise to contend with in the form of music and over-excited guests.
negative:
Morning delays
A small number of guests mention that the staff were a little slow to get breakfast going in the morning. As a result, this caused some delays to those guests who wanted to be away early. Also, the level of traffic in the immediate area can be significant. Hence, you can expect to be stuck on the road for a while.
