Positive Reviews
positive:
Well-received evening entertainment
The regular acts that are booked to perform get favourable reviews by guests. So, if you do not want to venture away from the hotel on an evening, you should enjoy the evening entertainment which tends to be of a musical nature.
positive:
Food is said to be delicious
Time and time again, guests have only good things to say about the quality of the food at this hotel. Not only is the food repeatedly described as excellent - possibly due to local produce always being used where possible - but portions are reportedly on the generous side too.
positive:
Great location
The town centre shops are only a short walk
away, and the hotel is situated very close to the railway station too making it
relatively easy to reach by train.
Negative Reviews
negative:
In need of modernisation
You may find the hotel to be a little bit dated.
General decor and hotel rooms are said to need some updating, with frustrations
reported by guests including lack of internet access, not enough plug sockets,
old televisions with limited channels, and showers running short of hot water
quickly.
negative:
Breakfast hours are limited
Breakfast time is fixed, reportedly starting
later and finishing earlier than some guests would like. Some guests who did
have breakfast felt that it was rushed, and that the hotel has difficulty catering
for all guests for breakfast within the limited time available.
negative:
Hit and miss service from the staff
Overall, the customer service would have to be
described as mixed. While many guests say the staff in general are good, others
do not receive the level of customer service they would expect. There is a
feeling among some guests that staff - including management - are sometimes rude, and that requests are
not welcome.
